A few members of The MEC Team attended the 2025 NEHES Fall Conference in late September of this year. CEO Bill, CFO Debbie, ad VP of Operations Dan all attended NEHES Conferences in the past, but this is the first year in over a decade that we opted to set up a booth! We learned a lot from the Conference this year and networked with many healthcare professionals – some being new faces and others long-standing colleagues or business partners. With two great nights of networking and a full day on the tradeshow floor, we left with some new relationships, insight and opportunities for MEC’s growth.
What is NEHES?
NEHES stands for “New England Healthcare Engineers’ Society”. This is a group for individuals involved in building the environment of hospitals and healthcare facilities. Founded in 1958, NEHES typically has aspiring and fall conference, with the fall conference being the larger and more attended event. The New England Healthcare Engineers’ Society aims to promote better patient care through bringing people and companies together to learn about the latest developments in facility design, management, and operation. This years’ agenda started Sunday afternoon with exhibitor set up and a welcome event on the terrace of the MGM Grand in Springfield. After the welcome event, MEC along with a few other companies got together to host a dinner down the road from MGM and further network with associates and friends in the industry.
Monday started bright and early with the tradeshow floors opening at 9:15am. People with various backgrounds from all over New England began to wander the aisles of excited vendors ready to showcase their businesses. Our team chatted with copious facilities directors, healthcare professionals, general contractors, and more. Many stopped by our booth to check out what MEC has to offer and also enter our raffle for a free Solo Stove! There were also various continuing education courses throughout the day that Bill and one of our electrical project managers, JJ, attended adjacent to the tradeshow room.
NEHES Dinner Gala Takes Place at the Basketball Hall of Fame
It was a long, full day at the tradeshow, but it didn’t end there. The final night of the event took place at the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame in Springfield. There were shuttles from MGM Springfield to the event where the room filled up quick with healthcare and construction professionals. It was a terrific social event with great food and even better conversation. The turnout was terrific with the majority of NEHES attendees coming to the gala as well. This leg of the event is always great to catch up with colleagues in the industry and follow up with new leads met during the tradeshow hours. Our team was very happy to be able to do both!
Furthering Our Work and Reputation in the Healthcare Industry
MEC Electrical & Technologies has been serving the healthcare industry for about 20 years, acquiring a stellar reputation over the past two decades with hospitals all around New England. We were even awarded an ABC Massachusetts Excellence Award for our Electrical Infrastructure Upgrade and Renovation Project at Lowell General Hospital in 2011. This was a major infrastructure upgrade project all taking place while keeping the hospital active. The project helped spark a long-standing great client relationship with Lowell General which also quickly progressed MEC’s name and reputation in the healthcare industry. As the technologies side of MEC began to take off, we began to acquire more and more A/V projects in conference rooms, auditoriums and patient bays in various local hospitals as well.
Recently, our electrical team completed an OR project at Winchester Hospital where the job needed to be finished two weeks ahead of the estimated completion date. One of our electrical project managers, JJ, and the team working under him were able to get the job done in time with lots of dedication and hard work. We were elated to hear the feedback from Winchester Hospital and Columbia, the general contractor for the job, while at NEHES on how satisfied they were with MEC’s dedication.
Our takeaways from the 2025 NEHES Fall Conference make us excited for the future of healthcare with the new technologies, safety equipment, and facility upgrades on the horizon. There were plenty of intelligent vendors and amazing technology displayed at the booths. We learned a lot and were very excited to have our own table set up for this event. We’re looking forward to next year already!
